Please don't update accounts for payments until they have cleared. ACH payments that get declined stay on the account and need to be removed automatically. It causes mass confusion and accounting errors. Also do not deposit funds until ACH payments are approved. The removal also creates a mess for accounting.
YES, I didn’t know this even happened and had a family owing thousands of dollars but it never came up that they owed on their account balance!!
