Improve Parent Portal Email process

I needed to send a parent portal link to a new parent. I went to the parent's name and click to send the portal email link.

It appeared nothing happened, so I clicked it a few more times trying to get it to send (as in get some confirmation it had been sent). I was expecting a popup to open to verify what was going to be sent. Instead, after maybe the 3rd or 4th time, I noticed a message that appeared briefly at the top of the window telling me the message had been sent. Highly unintuitive.

What would be a better experience, especially for a new user like me, would be to (1) In the parent's portal, click Email Portal Login. (2) A window opens, displaying the email that will be sent and allowing me to customize/verify the email. (3) Also in the window would be the path to where to define the default parent portal link email (which I'd never been aware of).

Then, to check if the parent had indeed gotten the email, I went to History and there was no record of the password portal link being sent. If it was sent as an email, it seems it should have been noted in there. So that would be another improvement I would suggest.

Maybe this is a minor thing and something I'll get used to, but it would not be hard to improve this process so a parent doesn't get multiple empty messages with the link.

The Help page on this is not helpful, specifically around the password for the parent's portal. If I simply click the link, does it send a *GENERATED* password to the parent that they then must change when they log in? This page gives no explanation, other than muddying the waters about the ability to set the password for the parent's portal. Should I set the password before sending the portal login? If so, that section must be the first step AND the process should check if there is a password set up and if not, require the password before sending the email. If setting the password is more as a help to the parent when they get stuck and can't get into their portal, that would be good to know as well in the Help doc.

In addition, a search on 'parent portal' (no quotes) returned general pages on the first screen about links. I then tried "parent portal" (in quotes) and got NOTHING--even though that is the exact term used in the interface. Then I tried " +parent +portal " (no quotes, just the plus signs) and finally found the page. I know this is a general issue with your Help results, so I'll add that as an additional Idea, but wanted to note it here as well as it is related to parent portal.
