We are getting requests to register for classes starting in January, 6 weeks out. These classes have open slots.
I need the ability to add the student to the class but delay the start date, add the student to the class roll automatically on the correct date, and start charging on the class start date.
I realize I can add the student to the waitlist, but apparently there is no way to specify a desired start date. Pamela (Support) told me I could add a Note to the student, but this is far from ideal--way too easy to not look at the Notes, too easy to not see the waitlist for a class that doesn't require waitlist, too easy to forget about. And it's not using software to solve for what has to be a fairly common need.
What I propose is adding a setting that prompts for the start date class when registering for the class. This is the process I propose:
In the Classes window, open the Students tab for the class, and select the student from the Add list at the bottom.
NEW: A popup is displayed with something like "When will the student start?"
"Immediately" is the default setting (would be optimal to have it show the actual beginning class date for the student in the class).
There would also be the option to specify a start date, which would begin the billing for the class once the student begins in the class.
The student is added to the student list in the class, similar to the WAITLIST setting, but showing UPCOMING, showing the start date for the student in the class.
It seems that using the existing trial class functionality, which allows us to specify the trial class, could be easily updated to allow this option.
For students registering online who want a delayed start date, their order in the waitlist queue should probably be sequential, with the studio able to override for existing students. But that's another, though related, matter.
Hi! Would love this! We're currently running into students that are interested in joining at the start of the new year, and are saving these emails until the first of January, rather than adding them to a future date in DSP (it would be great if it was similar to what was mentioned above or like adding a trial class/makeup class for a future date). Thanks!
