What specific challenge or problem does this idea solve? |
Families creating a new account are unaware that they must manually opt in to receive text messages. This setting is located within the Communication tab of their account settings, where it is easy to overlook. Additionally, there is currently no notification or prompt within Studio Pro informing families of the updated SMS consent requirements, making it unlikely they will know this step is required. |
How should this work? |
All new families will be required to choose whether to opt in or opt out of the 3 text messaging options when creating their account. It should be noted that we strongly encourage families to opt in, as text messages are used only for important studio communications. These may include emergency closures due to weather or unforeseen circumstances, urgent information regarding your dancer, time-sensitive billing matters when we have been unable to reach you by phone or email, and other important studio notifications. Your privacy is important to us. Dance Contempra does not sell, share, or distribute your phone number or email address to any third parties. |
Who will benefit (Admins, Staff, Students)? |
This enhancement would benefit administrators, staff, parents, and students by improving communication throughout the studio. Requiring or prominently prompting families to choose whether to opt in or opt out of text messaging during account creation would significantly increase SMS participation. Currently, many new families are unaware they must manually opt in, resulting in a large percentage not receiving important text communications, including emergency closures, urgent student updates, and other time-sensitive notifications. |
How will this change impact your daily tasks or overall experience? |
Trying to catch parents that you do not know due to online registration, emails go unnoticed, have added pop-up notifications with no effect, and calling is just too much extra work, having to guide them through the process. |
