When balance is zero, mark all previous items as paid

What specific challenge or problem does this idea solve?

Items in the transaction list aren't being automatically marked as paid when the balance is paid in full.

How should this work?

When someone pays their account in full and has a zero balance, all the items previous to the payment date should be marked as paid.

Who will benefit (Admins, Staff, Students)?

Staff mostly, but also parents. Sometimes leaving items marked as unpaid even when the balance is zero will cause parents to be unable to register because the system thinks they still owe something..

How will this change impact your daily tasks or overall experience?

Staff won't have to intervene to correct this problemm which will save time for staff and parents.

I feel like the transaction page just needs an overhaul in general. It gets so confusing when one single payment gets broken up to "pay" different items. It can link the payment to the charge if necessary, but breaking the payment up is just confusing for everyone. I think it's also an extra unnecessary step to have to "Split" the payments. I have ideas on how this could work, but its complicated to type out

Yes! we stopped using due dates because of this. When we add fundraising credits to accounts and they have a positive balance, we have to manually go in and apply the credits to each unpaid transaction. This is a highly time consuming process that has to be done monthly. If a credit is added to the account, it should automatically get added to unpaid fees.
