It looks like this suggestion has been asked multiple times but they are being marked as "already exists" when it clearly does not.
There are two problems with the way family tuition is calculated and displayed. The first issue is that it adds up the total cost for the family and then divides it by the students. This displays an inaccurate total for each student since they may be taking a different amount of classes or classes at different rates. The value shown does not provide any usable information for either the studio or the parents.
The second issue occurs when the system tries to divide the total amongst the students. If you have an odd number of members in the family, the system will either add or subtract a penny to make it even. While it is only a penny, the tuition total is not accurate.
If I have selected a family plan for tuition, do not try and calculate individual totals. Perhaps just list the amount of classes each student is taking and then give a cost for the family. I'm not sure why it was designed to try and evenly divide the total in the first place.
In DSP, tuition is always charged by student, and when the family option is selected it does evenly divide the tuition amount students, and if the tuition amount is odd, one student gets the extra penny so there is no money lost. That is how it is displayed, but If the student option is selected, it reflects how many hours or class that individual student is taking and then charges tuition based on that. Again, the entire way that DSP is set up is to charge tuition for each individual student. At this time, there is not a singular family charge because each student must have a tuition amount. If you feel you are still not getting your tuition amounts correct, then the DSP Support team will be your best option for help. Have a great day!
It is Support who suggested I mention it here. It is not an issue of us not setting the tuition up properly. The problem is the software is not calculating it correctly. All we are doing is using the built in features to calculate tuition by family using the tuition rate schedule. Nothing fancy, special or unique.
This is clearly a bug that needs addressed and I'm not entirely certain why you're avoiding the issue.

You have misunderstood the main point of the post. The total due is not accurate because the system is trying to divide everything evenly. Why is the software taking the accurate balance due and then processing it to create a number so it can evenly divide it? The end result is that you have the wrong balance due AND the tuition for each student is not an accurate representation either. It's like it is going out of its way to be doubly wrong.
I shouldn't have to go in and manually modify tuition. The first priority should be for the software to display the correct amount for tuition.
Even if the tuition could be evenly divided, it still would most likely not display any useful data. If one student takes 3 classes and the other 6, their individual tuition displayed would be incorrect. Please give me a scenario of how the studio, parent or student would be able to use that information in any relevant manner?
To summarize, the individual totals do not provide any usable data. Please stop manipulating the total due for the family in order to provide made up individual tuition amounts.
Yes, it's just a penny, but when was the last time you used an accounting software that operated under the "it's close enough" policy?
At this current time, the family tuition option does evenly divide between students in the family. If you would like each student to have their tuition reflect their individual number of classes, you may want to consider using the student tuition option.
