Customizable dashboard for users

Customizable dashboard with numerous "windows" for the user. It would be great if when I logged in, certain tabs were already on the dashboard. For instance, account settings, total balance, pending registration or verify email, etc. l am new to the system and the 1st screen after login just seems like a ton of wasted space. Even if the main tabs were visible as a small window in some way. A volunteer would only need the timeclock and a teacher would need timeclock, class rolls/attendance, emergency information, etc.
