Streamline process to make changes that involve multiple settings

We've recently encountered an issue, twice, where we were trying to make a substantial change (in this case, to our registration settings and payment settings in the portal) and updated the necessary settings, only to find out---after it didn't work---that there was ANOTHER setting hiding somewhere else that overrode our other changes. It would be more useful if, whenever we needed to change something that affected our parent portal, like closing registration or hiding the option to pay online, all the relevant settings were connected to each other. Like the way some settings have a link next to them that directs you to another related setting if you need to make similar changes. OR, make it clear which settings will override others; that has been very unclear in many cases, which settings will take priority when there is conflicting information. ANYTHING to make it so we don't have to go into every single page and look at every single setting to make sure we didn't miss something.
