Our ballet school is a non-profit, and we would like a way for parents to pay on an iPad or terminal (such as Square), and be able to ask parents if they want to round up to the nearest dollar. More generally, we would like the feature to ask parents easily to round up when they are paying.

Are you suggesting/thinking that the rounded up amount would be applied to their account, or as a donation to the studio? Definitely an interesting suggestion. We have a "Giving Tree" program (aka donation platform) and this would be a nice way for us to offer the "Round Up" which could then be appiled to our Giving Tree program.
